How do I get my free credit report I am entitled to?

christopher asked:

I just tried by logging on to the free credit report link. How can I still get my free credit report? I want to see my free credit report.

The thing about the free credit report is that it doesn’t automaticallly entitle you to -all- of the information that would be useful to you. Just the report itself.

After some research, here’s what I did:
went to identitygaurd.com and signed up for their free15 day trial (after I got the information I needed, I cancelled it without any problems, though admittedly if I were a higher risk for identity theft, I’d probably have kept it…it’s a great site all around).

With it, for free, I got all three bureaus’ reports (also not something you’re entitled to at most sites), my score from all three bureaus and a bunch of other information like how to go about correcting information on my reports.

I recommend this route and if you can afford it, keep it for at least a month so that their great service actually gets somethign for it :)

You will need a credit card number, but you can cancel pretty immediately.

    Good luck!
